Hey there!

Welcome to my home on the internet.  If you were a guest at my breakfast table, I’d get you some coffee and cookies. Then I’d look in your eyes and ask, “Tell me what’s going on?” How do you feel about your life right now? What do you want to change? Then, we’d start your plan to build the most fantastic life as you age.

Your first question may be, “Who are you, and why would I listen to you?” I get it.

I am Mary Harvey Gurley, and I have reinvented my life over and over again. With the curveballs life threw my way, I had no other choice.

I am a 60+ female pleasantly surprised (and amazed) to have lived this long. I certainly didn’t plan for it.  I am a curious observer of the world through my camera lens, the written word, and my passions. With my stories, photos, cooking, and travels, I want to inspire “women of a certain age” to make the autumn and winter of our lives the best seasons. I want to help women vibrantly live out loud.

For me, my corporate career ended in a matter of weeks. I was offered a buyout; a few weeks later, I was unemployed. My career had been my identity. I was unprepared to be 60 without a job and no plan for the rest of my life. How had this happened? This wasn’t in the script I’d written for my perfectly planned-out life! I was lost and needed direction.

I began researching what to do next. I found articles about encore careers, living in retirement, finding your purpose, etc. I didn’t find the information I needed or wanted tailored to the issues of older women. I couldn’t find books about See Jane Age, or You’re 60! Build a new life in 30 days or less!

I needed a guide, and it wasn’t there. I set about developing topics and ideas that all women need, regardless of age. Yes, I focus on women over 55+. That’s when it is critical to get your post-career plans in place. I am not an expert in all the categories I write about, but I am a journalist and dig deep to bring you the information you need to make the best choices. My goal is to stay about a mile ahead of our aging journey and report back to you from the frontline. I hope my mistakes can help you plan a fantastic future.

“As we age, we come together, ready to reinvent ourselves. Now free from what the world expects of us, it’s our turn to decide what life should look like, letting go of anything that holds us back. With more energy and health than ever, we’re set to explore new directions and share the wisdom we’ve gathered. Our working days may be behind us, but our personal growth and change journey is just starting. This is our time to live with intention, driven by our goals. Together, let’s pursue what we love and achieve our dreams, setting an example for the next generation of women to make their changes confidently.”
